In the terminal type

May need sudo... If so type

Sorry cant view fule right now, if you can post the contents.. if its long the last few lines will prob suffice.

If its not the dkpg message, it may be related to a ppa you've added, removing the ppa and rerunning updates usually corrects.
Looking at my previous posts will direct how or the manual will instruct.
If not ppa error may be a key file message i believe...A quick forum search should yield results to correct...

Sorry. Now it's three systems running 4.4. I  will hav to check it out.
Thank you all. firenice03's solution worked.I wanted to start a new thread, but I could not figure out how, and since  I've had this problem going on four weeks, I gave this a shot.Funny thing, I've posted before, and I don't remember any problems.
