Gentlemen – I can’t believe your generosity in interest and time on my first LL forum post. Thank-you so much.

Jerry – I showed my real neophyte colours today. I spent most of it trying to edit the grub file as per your suggested bug fix by using the Terminal – Finally gave up and edited it in etc./default/grub. Hope this is valid. Changes do show on the terminal. Sadly they do not show in the Load Time.

Then I tried option 2. sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-video-intel  No change in load time there either.

Is this laptop really such a "rare bird".
