Welcome to the group!!

32bit Skype is no longer supported.. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/skyp...0c1?auth=1

Skype supports 64bit.. If you're PC supports it you can install LL3.8 64bit where you'll find Skype in "Lite Software"

You may want to try web based log on - https://login.skype.com/login
Extract from link above.  Not tried  the we web version but could be an answer??

Hi,

Seems so. When I today tried Skype version 4.3.0.37 on my 32 bit Linux Mint 18.2, I got the same symptoms. And once, it came up witn an upgrade link - to a 64 bit version :-(
Thought about completely giving up Skype on this PC, but remembered having read about a web-version of Skype.

And i found, that Skypes web-version works fine on my old laptop through:

https://web.skype.com
using chromium on 32-bit linux

Chrome has ended support for 32-bit)

Regards

Steen"
thanks for your help
Hello jmogrady and welcome to the forum

Why bother with Microsoft spyware like Skype?

Have a look here at Talky and it just might change your mind.
