Is it ok to totally purge Firefox from Linux Lite? Would it delete any packages that are needed elsewhere?
Don't think that should pose any problems.

Just ran "sudo apt-get purge --dry-run firefox" in a terminal and it only showed that firefox would be removed -- nothing else.
A related problem I have found .

I prefer to use Chrome . I am having difficulty getting Lite to accept it as my default browser  . Most of the time after I supplied the full path to where Chrome is installed its better although sometimes  I get asked which browser I want - which is easy to do, just  click chrome

But with some 'Help' requests Firefox is automatically opened . In Lite 1.0.8 I had problems because of this when I deleted Firefox as there was no Browser available . Not tried in Lite 2 .

It might not be a big problem for you but I just thought I would make you aware .

Thanks Goldfinger.
Colin23erk: I appreciate the heads up.
Hello!

Have you folks tried changing the default browser from Firefox to Chrome in Menu > Settings > Preferred Applications? I don't use anything else but FF, so I haven't tried this personally to see whether or not this will work...

Hello Rob

Just revisited Preferred Applications and Set Browser to Google-Chrome-Stable . which is the Full Path of where Chrome gets installed  (  /usr/bin/google-chrome-stable "%s ")

My problem was caused by getting a Prompt that Chrome is not my Default Browser .

You must click on "Do not ask me again" .

If you click on "YES"  it cancels the Chrome option in Preferred Applications

Hope this Helps

So far, no problems after it asked me to pick my default browser (Midori).
