Full Version: Wired instead of Wifi icon shows when I'm on the Wifi network

Yesterday, the icon for the wifi connection, on the bottom right-hand-side of the panel, started to show up as a 'wired' connection icon when I'm using wifi (I'm not using the cable connection to the router) as shown hereĀ  https://imgur.com/a/UqNhp

How do I fix this?
This was a reported bug in Ubuntu.

Many thanks for the link - I didn't know about this bug
I've added a new 'UBUNTU BUG' Prefix with the appropriate colors.

Please apply this to threads where Ubuntu Bug reports have been referenced. Cheers :)
This bug is definitely hardware specific. Try enabling network or PXE boot in the BIOS. That will make sure your NIC and wifi switches are always on at boot. Try a different S mode in the BIOS. I only had this happen once, on a Dell lap I think, and on an initial system install from a wired connection. Normal kernel updates caused it to just go away.
