I'm using LL on an ancient 32-bit 'puter with very modest specs.  When that happened to me the first 3 or 4 times I re-started using the power button.  When that didn't work I waited it out - a full 2 or 3 minutes, and it finally booted up.  Your specs are much better and you're using a 64-bit machine so my experience may not be helpful at all, but just say'n... try just waiting a little bit.

I wonder if it's a Grub2 thing... lots of trouble with it on my other computer running PCLinuxOS Xfce, it seems the latest version is buggy.  Just out of curiosity, the installer asks where you want the bootloader installed... hopefully you specified your HDD.

Didn't get a message regarding the bootloader installation. Thanks for the help. Figured out what was causing the hang up, it was the hard drive encryption.... No Bueno! :'( Reinstalled for the 8[sup]th[/sup] time with HDD encryption unselected and BOOM!, after the yellow feather screen it went black and saw a blue screen with a mouse than back and to the yellow screen with a feather and desktop icons/menus.  Big Grin

One thing I noticed that after the install and reboot LL never asked me for the encrypted HDD password when I installed with HDD encryption enabled.  :o

Is HDD Encryption broken?!

Is there a way to encrypt HDD after LL install?

From the Help Manual - "Note: If you want to encrypt your home folder, do not select the option 'Encrypt the new Linux installation for security' instead, please follow these instructions here." See the Install page. Cheers.

Thanks but I would have preferred full HDD encryption during initial install. Ran into the HOME folder encryption option when  I was searching around for solutions. So the question is the Full HDD Encryption during install broken ( Debian and/or Ubuntu issue?)? Wanted this option due to heading to vacation/holiday and financial data.

Thanks!

PS
Great work with LL. It just zooms around on this old laptop and feel like home!  :-* Smile
