Hi to All,
I installed the Linux lite 3.2., and then I installed Skype, version 4.3.0.37-0ubunt0.12.04.1, from "Lite software".
After that, i tried to run Skype, by clicking on the icon of Skype, I waited for six to seven minutes. There was not been any signs of connecting on Skype.
It happened same with Team Viewer.
Does anyone know what a problem is?
Type skype or teamviewer into a terminal and see error messages on why neither is working for you.
When I've typed Skype, there was message : "Aborted."
When I've typed Teamviewer, there was message:
"Error: CheckCPU: SSE2 support: not found. TeamViewer cannot star"
It is more than likely your cpu doesn't support certain instruction sets eg. SSE2 That is why these modern voice and audio applications won't run. On newer hardware, it would not be an issue. Cheers.
Do you happen to know?
Are there any older versions of Skype that can be installed and run it on this version of Linux?
Video link is not so important for me.
I think that SSE2 is need only for video call. Correct me if I am not wrong.
Thank you for your support.
You won't be able to use either of those 2 programs on your current hardware, older or newer.
I don't know if this is relevant. My old Toshiba satellite pro A10 Celeron® 2.0GHz CPU with 1 GB ram PCMIA 3com wifi struggled with the later versions of LL. V2.8 was on the very edge. Did get Skype working

I took a punt and installed POINT LINUX 3.2 on it - managed to get a much smoother experience, including current debian SKYPE. So it might work for you. Afraid their support is virtually non existent - not like here. But still worth a try? Good luck.
BTW I installed the XFCE version of point linux 32 bit

It seems that I cannot get away of buying a new PC.
Once again, thank you all.
Cheers!
