I am installing LL on a Toshiba netbook with 2 gb RAM. It had Windows 7 Starter on it and was in a state of uselessness. I will soon let you know how it goes.

Linux Lite 3.2, 32bit on a netbook with 2 gigs of ram. You're good to go. I have an Acer netbook with only 1 gig & LL 3.2 runs pretty good. So with that extra gig you'll be quite pleased with the results. I think if the companies had splurged on the extra $10 bucks and put 2 gigs in netbooks they would of been more popular. Back when they were new I tried both Lubuntu & Linux Lite 1.0.8 on one. Really good!
