Could you post any error messages or any additional info..
It may be something LL related or it could be a PPA or something else that is failing the update. The added info will allow those to respond with the most appropriate approach...

Only message "could not retrieve updates" fixed with "dpkg --configure -a"

May have been an update that was halted or cancelled...
Try in terminal typing the supplied command..
The command should correct.. I don't think it needs sudo but if it doesn't run, try:
Once complete try updating once again...

Ran 14 updates morning of 15 Feb 17 at 6:10am EST. First attempt indicated a failure, did not check the log, just went for second attempt which was successful.
