Full Version: An app wants to create new keyring called 'Default Keyring' @time I open browser

I've installed LL3.0 as the only operating system on my sisters's 8-year old Vista laptop, a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300. The LL install & updating, etc, went very well. I've chosen Slimjet, instead of Firefox, as it seems to be significantly less laggy as an internet browser, following gold_finger and one or two members pointing out its merits elsewhere on this forum.

However, each time I open Slimjet, I am pestered by the following popup message & have to click on the cross each time to close it down. Very annoying. As far as I know, I've never created or needed a 'default keyring' before in any LL setup.

The popup message is as follows:
"Choose password for new keyring
An application wants to create a new keyring called 'Default Keyring'. Choose a password you want to use for it."

Below the message are Cancel and Continue buttons.
How do I get rid of this annoying popup?

Thanks for your help

For the keyring, review the following:  https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/other...0/#msg3450
First follow link provided by torreydale.  Install package as per Jerry's instructions in the link; then follow this link instead of the one referenced on that page.  (It's an updated version of same thing.)

P.s.
What's going on with your son's LL/Lubuntu/Zorin machine?  Did you see my latest answer to Lubuntu user setup?

Thanks torreydale & gold_finger.  On following the above links & instructions therein (installed seahorse), the 'Passwords & Keys' window, that I subsequently  opened, looks nothing like the one in the Ubuntu link - it looks pretty blank, i.e.  http://i.imgur.com/PP43YUO.png

NB. I'm in LL3.0 - the wallpaper around the edge of the imgur image has been taken from LL2.8

I'm unsure what to do next...
Mike
I think at this point you're supposed to create a keyring called default keyring.

What's the reason for doing this? I haven't had to do this with LL3.0 on setups (1) & (4) in sig, so I can't understand why I need to do it now.  I might return to LL2.8 on this laptop as it appeared to run more smoothly - a shame as LL3.0 is a great release, as I've found elsewhere.

If I create a Default Keyring with a password, am I subsequently going to be asked for the password everytime I open the browser? I don't really want this....

Update - 5 min later: created Defaut Keyring and yes, as I guessed, it's now asking me to type in the password each time I open the browser...

Mike
The other links we shared with you showed how to make the password blank, so you won't be asked.
Thanks Torreydale - I must have missed something - I'll check again and report back later - thank again....

Mike
Achieved - thanks guys for your help, torreydale & goldfinger - I no longer have the annoying popup about 'Default Keyring'!  Will mark thread as 'Solved' - one more task ticked off  Wink

Relief at last...
Mike
