file:///home/jll/Desktop/Eva%20Cassidy%20-%20Drown%20in%20My%20Own%20Tears.mp3: Your GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in.

I got this error  after installing the " Alarm Applet "  and directing  it to play this  mp3 audio file.  How do I go about  finding  out which plugin  is missing ?  Can some one help me out with this. I'm wanting to learn  how to find these things out on my own whenever possible.    thank you.
It may help for you to list the steps you took in your installation attempt.  Did you use source code, deb file, ppa, repository, etc.

There appears to be gstreamer plugins available via Install/Remove Software.  Menu > System > Install/Remove Software.  Open it an search for "gstreamer".
I just  installed  the applet  from synaptic and it functioned fine , except for playing an audio file.

I don't know why  it didn't occur to me  to just look through the Gstreamer plugins . I think I was a bit  intimidated by by the prospect .  I'm a low level user ; but I scrolled through and installed  some things that seemed like they might be pertinent  and nothing seems to have broken , and it plays an mp3 file , so , hopefully  it's all good.  Kinda fly by nite , hit or miss.
Try installing Restricted Extras in Lite Software.
