Seems about desktop enviroments rather than distros

It's a poll run by Ubuntu employees, seems pointless to vote.

Based on that list, I would expect Ubuntu or Ubuntu Mate to win.

I know. It is just something to do for fun.  ;D

Looking at it from Ubuntu's perspective, I think they were merely interested in seeing which was the most popular 'in-house' flavour of the Ubuntu distro that those who work for them prefer. I can understand their curiosity on that one.  They did forget one or two others though, e.g. Edubuntu, Ubuntu Kylin ...

Don't think it is just an in house poll. I read about it on their Facebook page.
