SimpleScreenRecorder is a Linux program that I've created to record programs and games. There were already a few programs that could do this, but I wasn't 100% happy with any of them, so I created my own.

My original goal was to create a program that was just really simple to use, but as I was writing it I started adding more and more features, and the result is actually a pretty powerful program. It's 'simple' in the sense that it's easier to use than ffmpeg/avconv or VLC, because it has a straightforward user interface.
I really like simplescreenrecorder.
I have been using Kazam, and love to have options.

Kazam, SimpleScreenRecorder and vokoscreen are all good choices. Kazam I think has improved the most as far as the GUI based screencasters go. The "real" way is with FFMPEG, and I generally use that for best results. My old computer had a file I created that I copy and paste the terminal line. I'll dig it up if you want to use that?

Keep in mind that the line I customized the terminal command for my installation of Arch Linux with KDE so it may not work optimally for XFCE and Linux Lite.
