Full Version: Nextbook EFI install

I read a few messages which said LinuxLite had EFI support. I pulled down the 64-bit ISO from the link at distrowatch to try it on my Nextbook. After Rufus onto thumb drive I saw it doesn't even have an EFI directory so Nextbook did not recognize it.

I have seen links for many videos. Can someone provide me a link to a text tutorial which explains how to load this onto an EFI only machine? I'm on satellite Internet and don't want videos eating up my bandwidth. I also don't want to have to get up at 3am to watch them during the "bonus window" when most creatures are sleeping.

Thanks,
To my knowledge EFI is not currently supported but is being considered for the 3.x release
torreydale is correct.  As of yet there is not a UEFI version of Linux Lite.  LL's creator is currently considering adding that to next release in April/May and is running tests right now.  A final decision on this is likely a few months off.

In the meantime, you have two choices for installing LL to UEFI capable machines:
  1. Change UEFI settings to use Legacy/Bios/CSM mode instead of UEFI mode and install that way.  The install will work no differently than if you installed in UEFI mode.  HOWEVER, if you are planning to dual/multi-boot with Windows or other Linux distros that are installed already in UEFI mode, this will not be a good solution and it would be best if you don't attempt it.
  2. Install in Legacy mode, then us a live Ubuntu dvd/usb to convert the install to UEFI mode afterwards.  It's a bit awkward, but it's do-able.  Here is a tutorial for that process:  https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/tutor...y-enabled/ .
