Does anyone know if and how I can change the feather logo that appears when booting LL2.6. My users dislike it and would prefer something a bit less depressing.
I used Grub Customizer to change the boot splash image and show the text rolling. Here's a couple of videos I watched to see how to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijPb8f7oVXU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwwDFLrkhVk
I use the still feather logo that I darkened that I previously posted. I just like seeing the text roll.  ;D

Doesn't he talk about Plymouth theme? I don't see any GRUB feather...
I've heard a feather described as many things, but never as 'depressing' Smile

No offence! It's what users have expressed to me. They just think it's not inviting enough as introduction to the best OS. Personally, I like it, but each to his own. Grub customizer looks like a solution.  Smile
Hello!

I believe plymouth controls the LL boot screen, so GRUB Customizer won't help you with THAT. However, it WILL let you add a pretty picture to your GRUB bootloader. For some examples, grab grub2-splashimages:

Code:
sudo apt-get install grub2-splashimages

You will then find these images in the /usr/share/images/grub folder.

Here's a link to a way to change the plymouth splash screen, but personally, I don't recommend 'playing around' with plymouth, as one boo-boo can leave your LL system unbootable, and I don't think Boot Repair can fix such a mistake.

There is a GUI called Plymouth Manager, but I DEFINITELY don't recommend it - again, for the reasons above.

Oh, yeah, the plymouth link:

Best of luck...
