I read some of the LFS stuff , I am not that Bright, Is there a way to learn BASIC Linux, by doing, with as few variables as possible? I think what I want is to start from the command line and do one task at a time till I learn what every thing is ,where it is, and what it does.I have a Hard drive in My CD bay, in an after market,adapter, LL2 sees it now, I partitioned it in half , It will be and aux drive, main drive 0 is 500gb, two partitions. I wanted to start with a simple thing like DMSL and go find what I need and install it. Is this a good plan? Thanks for your help past and future,, daryl de kb5zxm Magnolia Texas.

Try searching this forum for "tutorials." I believe there is a whole section under that search term. Plenty of beginner and intermediate stuff there.
You sound like a Candidate for downloading and learning how Debian works with a AntiX base iso.
Just Fluxbox, Browser, apt, Ceni (cli internet connection manager), and few other minimal tools to get you started. Not rocket science to install and run it.
Tiny Core Linux is another Minimal build as you go live iso that is easy to learn.
Slitaz is another good learning tool with its own command syntax to learn.

I am in the process of teaching myself BSD when I have the time. In case Gnu/Linux becomes as main stream as I have seen
other things become in my life, that I like, and are ruined by the flotsam and jetsam that accompanies something that becomes
mainstream.
Sigh. I used to get Patron Tequila in El Paso Tx for 4 bucks a bottle. Now that it is a yuppie/metro tequila.
I do not buy it anymore at 50 bucks a bottle.
For that price. I'll buy a local made good bourbon instead.

Thank you, BOTH, I had forgotten about the tutorials here, I might give the tiny core Linux a shot. There are so many buzz names to sort out, I was using Ceni when fighting the Broadcom driver thing. I just want to tackle on thing at a time on my spare drive, then come home to LL2.? to do my mail surf etc. I was once a competent radio service shop owner, but my mind got fracked, due to hear attack. I was pretty gimped up before with polio etc. but I could learn what I read, now I have to write it down.

codeacademy.com has a course in using the command line. It is still in beta, but it is a good place to start.
Thank you for the codecadamy link ,I see where /how it helps. People posting their problems and the offered solutions helps me also .I think there is a way/type of thinking that has to be learned, and a mind map of the system/the rules that has to be formed, I know this is too/soooo 'mental' as my spiritual friends say, but my brain injury makes me see things this way. Also learning New things is proven to help repair the brain.
