Okay not sure how I came across this or what the command even does to make the sound work but this is what I did to fix my stuttering choppy sound on an Asus z97-i plus motherboard with a Realtek ALC892 audio chipset.
1) open a terminal and type sudo leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
2)once open scroll to the bottom and type options snd-hda-intel vid=8086 pid=8ca0 snoop=0
3)Save and exit restart computer no more sound or stuttering issues

Now I am very happy hope this helps someone as it took a lot of reading and searching to find a solution to my problem.

I'm having the same problem either watching a youtube video or a video on desktop. I have a Dell mini 1010 and have had problems using VLC media player in the past using win 7 and xp. VLC is a great media player and I have four of the dell mini 1010 computers. So I would like to try to figure out why it's not working on the 1010s
All the reading and settings so far has not fixed the issue. I'm new to Linux Lite and any help would be greatly appreciated...
Hi Butter, please attach a copy of your system report. I suspect your hardware is a little to low-end. Thank you.
