Hello!
I already have a full Redo backup of the machine I am going to use to 'try out' Windows 10. If I don't like it, I'll just restore the backup - after I back up the drive with the Windows 10 install, of course. Should you get 'super curious' about Windows 10, that'll get you around the VM issue - but then again, you probably already knew that.
Another possible way is to install 7 onto a flash drive (32GB or larger). I have never tried this myself, but since I'm curious if it'll work, I'll file that one in the 'do it for grits and giggles' category...
