When I get to the page after selecting  Something else....LL doesn't give the option of installing to a flash drive.  I know where I want it installed but no option to get there so I always have to quit at that point.

Reading your threads.
Being a crusty old timer myself (with tattoos)
Having to communicate in Linux geek talk. Cuz I can. Because it is faster and easier on me.

try

Code:
sudo fdisk -l

or even

Code:
sudo parted -l

or even open gparted to get the device name of your usb drive to proceed with the install.

It will be /dev/sdb or /dev/sdc or whatever.
Did you ever get your bios boot issue figured out? I use a  PLOP Floppy disc for usb 1.1 port boots, with no bios usb boot support myself. On P3 and older gear.

Hope you learn the new language. I picked up TexMex because it made my life easier also.
Learning new stuff I know is hard for crusty old timers. But I manage OK.
Not a frustrated bone in my body.

Hasta luego. From a redneck scooter tramp with a GED.
