Sound like everything didn't copy to the drive. Are all the applications in /usr/share/applications? What are the specs of the rest of the computer?
It was setup clean /
and home was created by skel
I restored my /home from deja (a backup from xubuntu 14.04)
and it overwrote the skel settings
