Got an update to Virtual Box today by Linux Lite Updates. Checked Synaptic and Virtual Box is not installed.

Why did it look like Virtual Box was upgraded?  ???
Hi Coastie,

I noticed that there is a service which starts for Virtualbox even if you don't have/install Virtualbox.

I can only assume it is an integral part of Ubuntu,
and is present in the event that you are actually doing an install as a "Guest OS" in Virtualbox.

If you don't have virtualbox installed, you can go into Synaptic and remove all references to it, this will speed up boot and shutdown too. Certain virtualbox packages are installed during LL's creation to ensure virtualbox testing support.

@Coastie, what version do you have? Do vboxmanage --version in terminal.

Terminal shows that it is not installed. Checked Synaptic again and found it but would not remove guest utilities. Lite Cleaner removed 1.8 MB from package cache. Synaptic then removed the guest utilities.

Thanks, guys! Don't understand what happen but this is why I love this forum.  8)
Hi,

You will find it gets installed on all installs.
If you install Boot up Manager from Synaptic,
search for BUM, it's a bit like the Services app in Windows
It allows you to see what's running, and disable things "caution required"

I never used Services app in Windows and I am too cautious to try this in Linux.  :-[
O.K,
No problem, in Windows there where/are many "background" things that used to run by default at boot,
you could disable some of them to improve performance
