Hi Katosan,

When you are prompted for your password, it does not show, that is normal,  just type it correctly and hit enter.

Hi katosan.  Password is not displayed in terminal - it's OK,  just type it then press Enter.

I wish to Install Updates but I am not able to type my password too.
The computer I use in Tokyo is a Gateway MX6212j and the keyboard write numbers when I type letters from the left side.
It work well on Slax and also on Windows XP but not in Linux Lite.
I tried to change keyboard settings but it stay exactly same.
Thank you. Merci.

PS: I am French, please don't care about my wrong English.

The password is probably being entered, but by design you can not see what you are typing. So enter your password and hit enter. hopefully this is your problem if not I’m sure some one will help you out.

Not sure what happened but I didn't see the previous messages until I posted.I'm guessing my post isn’t what your after.

I know when you have to type a password in the Terminal, it's not possible to see what you type.
My problem is about my keyboard and I don't know who can help me.

I look forward to use my Linux Lite and leave my girlfriend's MacBook.
Hi Morgan,

Quote:the keyboard write numbers when I type letters

It sounds like the numeric key on the keyboard is on? A function key combination (like Fn+NumLk) usually will toggle it on and off. This link describes it very well.
