I was trying to encrypt or password protect a USB drive and I found a video explaining how to do this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4JYkZxnhJw

As described I went to the Synaptic Package Manager to download the "cryptsetup" and it showed that it was already installed...but I cannot find it anywhere, do I need a command to activate it somehow?

Thanks

'cryptsetup' is a command line tool.
If you need a GUI tool  (Graphical User Interface) you need toinstall gnome-disk-utility
Code:
sudo apt-get install gnome-disk-utility
Thank you misko. I ran the line you suggested and it did a bunch of stuff, but I still cannot find the Disk Utility - I don't understand why when I install something it doesn't show up in the Menu somewhere...

thanks
@Alex,

Try this location:
Menu > All > Disks

;D ;D that's exactly where it was! I know what you are thinking: Alex could not possibly be so dumb, well not quite, but close.

Thanks

Nope, not at all. I've easily had more than my fair share of duh moments!  Smile
