I use an Android phone and have very little Apple knowledge. I'm hoping some of you experienced iPhone users can help.

My mother is a member of a retirement group (70+ age range), they all have iPhones. One of the members, Rozzie, has a text messaging problem:

Situation #1
------------
If Rozzie sends a text message from her iPhone to another iPhone the text message will intermittently display only on the recipient's iPad (in the messaging application) but not in the recipient's iPhone.

Situation #2
------------
If I attempt to send Rozzie a text message from my Android phone it *always* fails. If I send Rozzie an email from my Android phone it is successful.

Is anyone familiar with these issues? Please keep in mind many of the ladies are in the 75-80 age range so any suggestions will need to be very simple.

Thanks
Scott

Make sure the iphone SMS settings are set to receive by its phone number and not its Apple ID.

Some apps, like Fongo, etc. also manage SMS so texts could arrive in an app maybe?

I have never used an Iphone, know nothing about them and have always used a flip phone.

One thing I found very useful and I do it alot is, send texts to Iphones from my email account when on a pc.

I just put the persons area code and phone number in the To box and add the SMS gateway domain to it and the message sends from my pc to the recipiants phone.

For example 4151234567@vtext.com for text messages and 4151234567@vzwpix.com for images to a Verizon phone.

Gateway domians can be found here...

We only get one shot at this thing called life, let's make the best of it.

@trinidad - Hello, thanks for the advice:

I (think) I remember a setting - use SMS when iMessage isn't available. It was an on/off toggle. Is this what you're referring to above or a different setting?

I'm not sure exactly, but it does not depend on the device model since it depends only on the tariff of your provider: if you have paid the opportunity to send text messages, they will be sent, and if not - then not. Call your provider and specify the availability of the services according to your tariff. Good luck!

Here's the link for what I'm referring to.

The pertinent section: In the “You can be reached” section, make sure that there are checkmarks beside your phone number and Apple ID.

He's correct, be careful. this post could get end up takin' down. that's just my opinion. anyways, I love iOS. I've had my iphone 5s for about 3 years, and it still works with the latest version of iOS, version 10.2. it's amazing that apple has finally provided new voices. I'm still with at&t, although I may end up switching to t-Mobile, but keep the same number.
